Being fancy and painting with friends.....

Happy Sunday, everyone!  It has been a couple of weeks since I last blogged, but I do hope you will forgive me.  I came down with a nasty flu-like thingy last weekend, and was out of commission for part of the week and all of the weekend.  No bueno.  But, I am back to my fancy self and ready to blog again.

I was going to do a shopping/Birchbox haul post today, but I didn't quite get all of my pictures taken---again. I am going to blame the illness (I am really going to try to milk that for longer than I really should).

Oh--big update--I received my first Ipsy bag--and it is fabulous.  I am hoping to put up a post about what I received, sometime this week.  For those of you who are like 'what on earth is Ipsy?'---it's another beauty subscription service that costs $10/month.  I have seen so many beauty vloggers and bloggers rave about both Birchbox and Ipsy, that I knew I just HAD to jump on that subscription bandwagon.  It delivers 4-5 deluxe sample---full size products each month.  Subscribers also get a new makeup bag each month (which I thinks is a bit much...so guess what my friends will be getting for their b-days....surprise :)).  If you would like more info. on Ipsy, check out their website here.  The site also shows you what was in this month's "glam bag."

***Side-note--has anyone else checked out the "rockstar" jeans at Old Navy??? I am in love...so comfortable...and yes...I feel like a rockstar when I wear them. Not to mention, they are super affordable.***

This weekend really flew by.  Why is it that weekends ALWAYS go so fast?  I guess the old adage is true..time flies, when you're having fun.

On Friday, I went with my mom, her friends, and a good friend of mine to a painting event at our local area arts center.   I NEVER liked to draw or paint when I was in middle or high school...and I only took Survey of Art in college because I knew it wouldn't require me to draw.  But, I really like doing these events where you spend an evening with friends, chatting and painting a "brilliant" piece of art.  They actually turn out really well...who knew!?!?!

Our theme for the painting we completed on Friday evening, was Georgia O'Keefe.   There were a few things that I learned about myself during this painting sesh (I am going to shorten session from now on, because it's fancy):  1.  I can't draw a circle...but I can draw and arch with a flat line at the bottom. 2.  I am not Georgia O'Keefe (I know, big shocker there)...therefore there is no way I can draw a Georgia O'Keefe painting.  3.  I can draw an Andrea Wright painting.

Here is my finished product....ta dah!!!!!!!

Maybe the Guggenheim will eventually want my version of a Georgia O'Keefe painting?  #fancygingercandream

I spent Saturday evening with some lovely and dear friends, shopping and eating.  My two favorite pastimes.  It's just good to be able to spend time with friends chatting and relaxing....makes me wish that my bestie was nearby...and not so far. away  I miss my fancy bestie.  :(  But, I am thankful that I have my friends here in town--because they are wonderful and fancy, as well.

Today I went to a musical with mis padres and my Grandpa---it was hilarious!  It was called the "Church Basement Ladies in The Last Potluck Supper."  Pretty sure I was the youngest person in the audience.....as the average age of their audience members appeared to be between 55 and 85.

And, now I am home...watching a horrible movie on the SyFy channel (I know, I should be watching "The Walking Dead"....just not feeling it right now).  Even though this movie is horrible, I will most likely watch it to the end..because that's what I do.  The SyFy channel never fails to suck me into their ridiculous "original" movies.  However, if I am honest with myself, I actually really like them.  I am in such a confusing mood right now.

That is all from the Fancy Ginger tonight.  I hope you have enjoyed this random post.  I am hoping I will get my shopping/Birchbox haul and Ipsy post up by Wednesday......we shall see.  You all know how awesome I am at keeping my promise, as to when I will be posting.  My track record with that, isn't exactly stellar.  But, you all are wonderful and understanding...and the Fancy Ginger loves you for that. :)

Have a wonderful evening and be kind to yourself.  Cheers and stay fancy!

The Fancy Ginger is her own Valentine....

I cannot believe it is Sunday evening already.  I hope that you all have had a lovely and fancy weekend.  I had a great weekend, spent with family and friends...it went by too fast.

I know that the Grammy's are on tonight, but I really have no desire to watch them.  Gone are the days when *NSYNC would be performing on the Grammy's and I would be glued to the TV...yelling at anyone who dared to speak whilst my 5 guys were singing and dancing.  I don't even know who is nominated or performing this year.  I guess one could say that this Fancy Ginger just isn't feeling the Grammy's this year.

But, that's o.k. because...THE WALKING DEAD is back!!!  I am preparing for some intense moments tonight.  PLEASE LET EVERYONE STAY ALIVE IN THIS EPISODE....not sure that my heart can handle if that's not the case.  *deep breaths*

As you all are aware, I am a single Fancy Ginger----which means that I am my own Valentine this year.  I don't see anything wrong with being my own Valentine, because that means that whatever I get for Valentine's day....it's something I actually want...because I got if for myself.  Does that make sense?  Here are the things that I got for myself:

Birchbox Liptastic Set ($24)- Birchbox brought this set out as part of their Valentine's Day gift promotions.  The set contains 4 full-size lip products...I know I mentioned this set in my last post, but it's so awesome--I think it's worth mentioning again.  Lip products include LAQA & Co Fat Lip pencil in Palate Cleanser (a deep red color); stila lip glaze in red velvet (a deep burgundy/wine color); Model Co Party Proof Matte Lipstick in Dusk till Dawn (a dusty rose color); Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Coral Crush.  All of these colors are beautiful and perfect for Valentine's day.

stila Glow and Behold Makeup set ($20)-  I had a gift card from Sephora that was burning a hole in my pocket. I had wanted to try out this set for a LONG time, so I went ahead and bought it.  I wasn't sure if I was going to like the colors on me...but since I wasn't actually spending any of my own money (the gift card covered everything), I thought it was a good time to take a risk.  Good news-- I LOVE THIS SET!!!! YAY!!!!  The set comes with 4 items, a sparkly head band (not sure what I am going to wear it with....or how (my head is so odd shaped)), stila smudge stick waterproof eyeliner in lion fish (bronze-y/brown color), stila convertible color in magnolia (pink/brown color), and stila lip glaze in gleam (sparkly pink shimmer).

The eye liner is such a beautiful color for my blue eyes...it really makes them pop, the convertible color (you can use this for cheeks and lips) is such a great neutral color for my cheeks..and I love the lip glaze....it makes me feel fancy.  When I first saw how brown the convertible color looked, I was a wee bit scared.  But it went on so smooth on my cheeks, and left me with a lovely natural glow.  YAY....SUCCESS.

There you have it....my Valentine's Day gifts to myself.  I probably should have waited to open them until the actual day...but I am way too impatient to do such a thing.  I hope that no matter what your plans are for Valentine's Day, you feel fancy and loved.  If anything, know that this Fancy Ginger loves you!!! :)

Now I am off to mentally prepare for The Walking Dead.  I have 20 minutes to prepare...I hope that's enough.

Cheers and stay fancy!

The Fancy Ginger Floats Away....

Good Morning my fine, fancy friends.  I am currently in my living room watching the winter storm that is raging on outside....is it almost spring?  Seriously, my car is covered in a lovely drift of snow at the moment.....beautiful.  On the upside---it's February, I am listening to my *NSYNC Pandora, and I just had a delicious cup of coffee.  This is the fancy life.

I have been "trying" to become more health conscious--as part of my New Year's resolution.  That means actually exercising, eating sort of healthy, and drinking more water.  Ugh, it's so hard being an adult sometimes.  You mean, I can't have McDonald's for every meal and not have any consequences???? What kind of world do we live in????

So, all of this healthy stuff is going pretty well.  I am just watching my dessert intake (I could have dessert for every meal), making sure I have some fruits and/or veggies for every meal, playing Just Dance on my Wii regularly, and drinking lot's of water.

I guess if I had any complaint, it would be the drinking water part.  I know that there are a bunch of benefits to drinking 8 glasses of water each day...but the only thing I am noticing so far, is the fact that I am making a trip to little girl's room, like EVERY 10 MINUTES!!!!!!!

Speaking of which......brb........

And, I am back.  You guys, I am going to float away!  I may have to re-think some of this H2O intake.  A positive note---I feel like I have much more energy when I drink all of this water.  Perhaps having to get up and run to the restroom has something to do with that...I don't know?  Was this TMI?

Fancy Ginger Discoveries

I have been reading a lot lately---which is good, because usually I don't take the time to read until it is summer.  I finished reading Yes Please by Amy Poehler, and I loved it.  She talks about her life experiences and some valuable lessons she has learned, thus far.  It's hilarious and endearing.

If you are into Greek and Roman Mythology....and don't mind reading a "kid's book series"  I recommend the Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan.  I have read every single book in both series, and I love them....I wish he was coming out with more of them. I think he does a great job of explaining Greek and Roman mythology in a kid-friendly way (his books even have a glossary in the back!).  He also writes in a way that has kept this Fancy Ginger interested.

I recently bought myself some Valentine's Day gifts....because let's face it, I am single and if I don't get myself something...who will?  Birchbox has been offering a Liptastic Kit featuring 4 different lip products (stila Lip Glaze, LAQA & CO Lip Pencil, Pixi lip balm, and MODELCO Lipstick) for $24....which is a fantastic value!  I had to get it (of course I did).  The shades in this kit range from deep burgundy, red, dusty rose, and coral....perfect for Valentine's Day.  I will show it off in my next post. :)

I also accomplished what I thought would be impossible.....I ordered stuff from Sephora....and spent NOTHING!!!!!!!  Ok, so I had a gift card....but--I didn't actually spend any of my own money.  I am so proud of myself.  I will hopefully show you my Sephora haul in my next post, as well.

I need to get going....time to drink some more water...this is intense.  I think I read somewhere that someone actually drowned from the inside out because of drinking so much water....I am not making this up....or maybe I am?!?!  See...I don't know any more!!!

Can drinking too much water make you delirious?  I am such a drama queen sometimes...but seriously!!!!!

Ok, I am out--cheers and stay fancy.
